Captain America The First Avenger Movie Review

Warning: This is a comprehensive review so it may contain spoilers.

The was a lot of pressure on Captain America The First Avenger. If done well, The Avengers could be Marvel's best movie yet, generating huge hype. If done wrong, the plans of The Avengers would have suffered huge losses. Has director Joe Johnson really managed to bring magic to one of Marvel's most iconic characters?

Marvel can see Captain America: The First Avenger

Based on the iconic character from WW2, The First Avenger follows a brave young man from Brooklyn, New York (Chris Evans), Steve Rogers, after he was deemed unfit to serve in the military. With nowhere else to go, Rogers volunteers for an operation that gets him Dr. Abraham will transform into a super-soldier led by Erskine. The operation is a success but with the secrets of the Super Soldier formula, Dr. Erskine is quickly killed. Realizing that their only surviving Super Soldier is too much of a risk for war, the US Army decides to parade Rogers to the USO show to boost morale and obtain funding. However, when an evil conspiracy reveals itself led by the evil Johann Schmid/Red Skull (Hugo Weaving), Rogers must step up to the task and become Captain America.

The film handles the toughest part very well. It is able to successfully avoid turning the flag wearer into a flag weaver. Instead, Evans comes across as a well-liked character who hates bullying and isn't afraid to stand up for himself. The character of Steve is given fair treatment, before he becomes a Nazi-bashing super soldier, as Evans proves he can handle more than just comedy, leaving him with a human torch to rest. Have any illusions.

How To Choose A 1filmy4wap Great Movie To Watch

Hayley Atwell gives us a solid performance as the strong, but sensitive Peggy Carter, and Tommy Lee Jones as the cocky Colonel Phillips as scene stealth, who is prone to one-liners. The rest of the cast either struggles to impress or they are not given enough time to do so. tough summer for Bucky Barnes. He suffered a cheap death in the recent comic books, and his treatment in The First Avenger Fair got a little better. Sebastian Stan tries to make the most of what he is given, as it is clear that Steve and Bucky have been friends for a long time. Once Barnes is dealt with quickly, he is soon forgotten. Captain America's support group The Howling Commandos (though they are never actually called so in the film), cry out for their own spin-offs because they provide some of the movies with more fun scenes.

Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) and The Red Skull (Hugo Weaving) This movie gave me many disappointments. Howard Stark, portrayed in the film, had little charisma, and it was often felt by how often the name Stark was mentioned as if re-enacting the fact that he is Iron Man's father to audiences. Weaving's Skull is so free of fanaticism, he even hates other Nazis, but sometimes it's hard to see where his intentions lie. Is he just obsessed with being a god? The Red Skull definitely isn't the diabolical villain I've read about in the comics. I hope we have more explanation behind the Cosmic Cube in The Avengers. Ordinary cinema viewers might have found it difficult in this movie to understand what the power of a cube is.

And the film loses a star. The main threat Hydra, the Nazi Deep Science Division, really only has two main figureheads, so never really feels like a world threat. Perhaps if we had seen more classic Cap villains like Baron Zemo and Baron Von Strucker, the Hydra might have seemed like a threat.

Did the film work as a period film? easily yes. While maintaining enough historical ground to make it work, but not pushing it too much until it gets boring, Johnson blends the right amount of history and imagination to create a truly unique superhero film. The special effects were an actually welcome surprise. Despite my initial fears that Chris Evans' head would look weird on a slender man's body, Marvel pulled it off pretty well. The battle scenes all seem reassuring, and they easily rival the effects seen in Thor.

To conclude, Marvel can see Captain America: The First Avenger as work. Excellent performance from its lead character, good action, good special effects, and a great story all around. Captain America is by no means a classic, but full credit should be given to Johnson and Marvel for making it so.
